About Us
In the mid-1970s, Doyle High and his wife, Roberta, opened Doyle High's The Drug Store on the square in downtown Haskell. Both were pharmacists and had a desire to serve their community through their business. Roberta passed away in 1998 and Doyle sold the store to Lonnie Meredith a few years later. Doyle still has interest in several pharmacies and visits Haskell often to see old friends and colleagues.
Lonnie continued to grow the business and adopted several new technologies during that time. He then sold the business in 2019 to Nathan and Mary Jane Buerkle. Mary Jane grew up in the store; her mother, Linda Short, was Doyle's bookkeeper and managed the office and then gift shop portion of the store. Nathan earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2009 from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy. Both natives of Rochester, Texas, he and Mary Jane moved home to Haskell County in 2016 after living in Lubbock since their college days at Texas Tech. Nathan manages the pharmacy, Mary Jane manages the gift shop, and Linda still keeps the books and runs the office.
The Drug Store truly is a family business. Our incredible team works diligently every day to deliver the ultimate in fast, friendly service at a competitive price. We'd love the opportunity to get to know you!
